According to calculations by the Commonwealth Fund, Canada is ranked second last out of 11 industrialized nations. The only country with a worse score was the United States, which spends roughly double the money per person, than Canada does ($8,508 vs $4522). By that comparison you would think that we are doing okay, but you might be surprised to learn that the U.K. is ranked number 1, and spends roughly $1000 less per person, per year ($3,405), than we do.
