For over a century, chiropractic patients have reported an incredibly wide variety of improvements to their health following an adjustment. Some of these changes are hard to explain anatomically. It is only recently that research is starting to demonstrate how chiropractic adjustments can have such a global effect.
Repeated studies have demonstrated that chiropractic care effects brain function. The latest study is significant because they found a 20% increase in activity in the prefrontal cortex. That is an area of the brain that is responsible for higher level functions like behaviour, decision making, memory and attention, intelligence, processing of pain and emotional response to it, autonomic function, motor control, eye movements and spatial awareness. Wow!
